JGonzalez Author Study on S. E. Hinton

I selected this Author because the first book was very interesting The Outsiders. The book is very descriptive and made you care for the characters, and you want them to do good things.

S E Hinton wrote The Outsiders in her teenage years, which blows my mind.

If I could ask S E Hinton some questions I would ask why she wrote this book. Did this have any real life experiences that she put into the book? What interested her, and why she started at such a young age? Did she think she would see big things from one of her first books?

  1. One of the characters that caught my attention in the book I am reading is probably Charlie, He's an owner of a bar in town. He is almost like a "Father Figure" for the boys. The two boys would always walk into his bar and hustle the people that were in his bar. Charlie was really laid back but when it comes down to business he was really serious. He's the Ride or Die type of guy. For instances the two boys hustled this guys from Texas and after hours when the boys left the guys from Texas tried to kill/rob the kids and Charlie came to the rescue and save their lives, but cost him his own.

  2. This is now and that was then, by S E Hinton is a very interesting book with an good plot. I really like the way its putting itself together, and how the characters are realizing what they are becoming.
When Charlie was killed it was a gruesome way to die. Him getting shot in the head made me feel for the other characters. I do enjoy the book and the way it is heading. I like how the two boys are maturing because of incident with Charlie.

  3. S E Hinton has a pretty interesting way of writing. She seems to try to mimic a teenager, and tries to set the mood as if it was being told through a teenage person. Her style is very easy to read considering it's like talking to one of my friends. Even if some of the slag or terms are slightly outdated.
The way it is written contributes to the mood of the book it gives it almost a friendly or familiar sense when you are reading it. She writes with lots of dialog or dialog within the main character which makes it seem the character is telling the story. So the way she writes is in first person which is one of my favorite ways to read a book. In my opinion it gives you more incite on the personal feeling of the characters.

  4. My Plans on my visual for my Author Study, I plan on creating a Prezi, Which is similar to a power point. I feel that this will convey to the audience a clean and precise visual and they will learn more about my Author and her books. My Working Question is Are there any parallels between her and her writing.

It encourages me to communicate with other people because I know more information about reading and authors. How it helped me to learn more about my author because she is an interesting lady, she wrote the books I read when she was an early teenager. And Honestly I don't know what the last question means.
