I chose Nicholas Sparks because I have read a couple of his books already and I wanted to read more. I like his style of writing and the way that he writes. For example, my favorite book of his is The Wedding. I read that book twice and I learned more about it each time. I also chose Nicholas Sparks because I love watching his movies.
I hope to learn more about his life and why he chose to write romance novels. In the books that I've already read, I've learned a little more about his life growing up just by reading the back inside covers of the books.
In the book "At First Sight" by Nicholas Sparks, the character Lexie realy caught my attention. She is the main characters fiancée. She is the type of person who is really controlling, and she always says what she wants to do and doesn't really care about anyone else's feelings. I personally don't like her at all and reading the book with her in it makes it less enjoyable. Although she is pregnant, she still just is way too controlling and uncaring. I really don't like her. I think Lexie is important to the story because she is not only the main characters fiancée, but all of the problems that the book faces, are because of her. In conclusion, without Lexie the story wouldn't be as interesting.
ReplyDeleteI started reading "The Wedding" again. I definitely feel as though I like it more than when I read it the last time. I also feel like you find out more about the book and all the characters if you really take your time and read it for the second, or maybe even third time. I just like the setting of this book the most, and the mood.
ReplyDeleteThe setting really effects the mood of the book because it takes place mostly in the summer. Although it is a sad story, the setting just makes the book a thousand times more interesting because of the way the whole thing is described. The mood, however, isn't the most happiest in the world. There is a lot of dark times but for the most part its all good things. Nicholas Sparks does a great job adding so many details to make it interesting and more enjoyable.
Nicholas Sparks style of writing is based on the topic of the book. Sometimes he'll use slang for certain characters, and sometimes he will use very proper English. He is very descriptive and he always makes sure to let the reader know what his characters are like. I think he chooses certain words and phrases so that it makes the story more interesting and so that you really get to know the character. Nicholas Sparks always writes from a characters point of view, he never narrates it. His text always contains a lot of dialogue, the whole story is pretty much all talking. All this comes together to create a mood for the story.
ReplyDeleteFor my author study visual, I don't have a plan yet. If anything I will end up doing a poster. On my poster I will probably end up doing a timeline of Nicholas Sparks' life to show how he started writing and what inspires him to write how he writes. This will best convey because it will be able to show what he was inspired by.
ReplyDeleteIm going to try to have it make sense to everyone by creating little blurbs of all the books I've read and showing the inspiration behind all of them for people who don't know his writing.
The author study reading assignments were good for people who didn't already know about their author. I do not read for pleasure outside of school, I don't even really like reading to be completely honest. Although I don't enjoy reading I'm glad I got to learn more about Nicholas Sparks as a person and an author.
ReplyDeleteThe author study research helped me get more knowledge on researching and organizing. I was very thorough with my research and it taught me how to be a better writer/researcher. This will definitely help me in college with writing and doing big paper assignments also. It really helped me get to know my author and more about why he writes the way he writes. Overall, I liked the project.
