I picked Nicholas Sparks because I've read a few of his books before and really enjoy his type of writing. I have not read one book written by him that I have not liked. The love stories he writes are very heart-touching and really pull you into the book. It is very hard to put any of his books down once you start reading them.
I'm very interested in knowing if there is a reason why Nicholas Sparks writes love stories. I've always wondered what inspired him to choose that type of writing. I also wonder if any of his stories are inspired by someone in his life.
I picked to write about Ira Levinson from the book The Longest Ride by Nicholas Sparks. Ira Levinson is a 90 year old man who is currently dying from lung cancer and only has a few weeks to live. Ira is a Southerner and a Jew and is very proud to be both. His father had always taught him honesty and integrity and he abided by that because his father was ultimately always right. Ira is a loving man who stays true to his words. He had a great long lasting marriage with a woman named Ruth until she passed away.
ReplyDeleteI think Ira is a great guy and has very good morals. I love that even though he is going to die shortly he still is making his way to continue a tradition he has done for his wife that passed away. He's very significant to the story because of his lifelong love for his wife and because of his big heart. His love with his wife inspires a younger couple throughout the story. I think Ira has a very big and positive impact throughout the whole story.
Nicholas Sparks writes the greatest love stories. They are so inspirational and so real. Each love story he writes about is different but each one is so captivating. Every story he writes relates to people of different ages, different backgrounds, different interests, and all have different settings.
ReplyDeleteI still wonder what inspired him to write the stories he has because he has a true talent and is very creative with every single story. Most of his books are top sellers and are made into movies. This shows that he's a very successful writer. I'm excited to do more research on Nicholas Sparks because I'm very curious about where he got his interest in writing love stories from.
Nicholas sparks writes in good detail. He is not overboard with details but he definitely uses detail very well throughout every one of his stories. His love stories are detailed and are written with a lot of romance and I think that is what draws readers to keep reading.
ReplyDeleteNicholas sparks stories include a lot of dialogue. There is a lot of conversation in his book between characters. I think that is an important aspect of his writing because his stories are told by the protagonist of the story. In the story I read, The Longest Ride, each chapter flip flops back and forth between characters telling the story in their point of view. His style of writing really draws readers in. The romantic mood is very captivating and makes his books very interesting.
I'm not too sure what I am going to do for my visual presentation of my author study assignment. I was thinking of making some sort of poster to display my ideas. I plan on going about it in a creative way to really catch my classmates attention but those ideas will only come to me once I start preparing my visual. I may do something like a profile on Nicholas Sparks to explain his background and where his inspiration for writing romance novels came from.
ReplyDeleteI was also thinking about making some sort of idea web that explains where the inspiration for each of his novels came from. I think this idea would work well because on one of the websites I visited I came across explanations about where his ideas came from for each of his novels. I think this will give everyone a good understanding of why he writes the way he does.
The Author Study assignment really helped me develop as a reader because I never thought that learning about the author would give you a better understanding of why authors write the stories they do. It gives you a whole new outlook on where these ideas for each story comes from and sometimes you can make connections between things you learn about the author and stuff that happens in the book.
ReplyDeleteThis project also gave me a lot of experience with research including using different types of resources and not just websites. It definitely fostered organizational skills because we had to organize all of the information we gained from research and organize it in a way to best display and answer our working question.
