Jon Krakauer writes about a story that happened to himself in the nonfiction story Into Thin Air. He is the character I'm writing about because of his bravery and strong willed behaviors. The story Into Thin Air is about his adventures up Mt. Everest as he conquers the tallest mountain peak on the planet. He used to be a climber and had ventured up numerous mountains in his life. Never had he attempted a climb like this, especially because he is 50 years old.
Being that the story is told from Jon's prospective, you can clearly see his character traits and everything that makes him a full minded individual. He is a strong man, mentally and physically. I would say that most of his strength comes in the mental form. He, after all, is an older gentle man. Fifty years old is not that old for a man, but for a mountain climber, it is pretty old.
Jon Krakauer's life was shown through his literary work. Especially because he writes non fiction stories which are about himself. His mountaineering experiences taught him lessons that stuck with him for the rest of his life. He had to rely on his peers and carry his weight on the mountain.
ReplyDeleteWhen faced with life threatening situations, he got past them. I'm sure there will be more lessons to come with the literature I have yet to read. Im excited to read more of his works. I will be learning a lot more about him and his life along with the lessons involved with it.
Jon Krakauer uses great detail to engage the reader. In my opinion, he uses too much detail throughout the story. The length of this non-fiction replay of events is a bit too extended for my liking. I believe in his eyes, the details help but our minds disagree.
ReplyDeleteThe writing has a little bit of dialogue but not too much. For the most part, the book is of him telling it in his own words without other words. Jon always writes from a first person point of view in his book. I am looking forward to reading another one of his selections in the coming weeks.
For my author study visual presentation, I want to create an interactive visual that the class and look at. The idea i have, is to create a mountain that climbs to the top with the most interesting information at the peak of Mount Krakauer. Im doing this because he feels very accomplished by reaching the top of Mount Everest. I can start the botom of the mountain on why i picked my book and what made me stick with this author.
ReplyDeleteThis project was very helpful in my understanding of the English language and literature comprehension. I need these skills of transferring what i read to a writing piece for college. I think this project was a success and that it should be continued.
ReplyDeleteUpon entering college, i will use the reading techniques learned in this class and during this project. The research skills used are fostering my education and will help my along my acedemic journey. Reading more than one book by an author will really fill you in on how and why they write about the things they write about.
